Exhibition

Joris van Spaendonck (Netherlands 1967)

Accompanied by his dog, Joris van Spaendonck takes a brisk walk in nature every day. This gives him snatches of images every time. Nature with its trees, branches, flowers, mosses and bark is only a foothold for his work. The ever-recurring play of the seasons, the organisms that create the most beautiful structures on tree bark or moss soil, the splendour of colours on an autumn leaf or, on the contrary, the burgeoning fresh hue in spring; these are the elements of nature that continue to fascinate Van Spaendonck enormously.

He takes these impressions in his head to his studio to turn these components into his own idiosyncratic translation. The artist creates his own entity. He would therefore like to invite those viewing his paintings to get very close to his work and discover his organisms in puddles of paint and in deep drawing of his branches and flora. Thus, you will discover that ‘paint ansich’ is the main theme in Joris van Spaendonck’s work.
