Expo Jeroen Paulussen

Exhibition Jeroen Paulussen

The realistic paintings of Jeroen Paulussen can be admired at Van Loon Galleries from Saturday 15 October to Sunday 27 November 2022.

Jeroen Paulussen (Netherlands, 1959)

Paulussen tries to surprise the viewer by showing ordinary things from a different perspective. Whether macarons, pavlovas or flowers, enlarged to enormous proportions, these objects become surreal. Unexpected color nuances emerge, recognisable details become abstract lines. According to the artist, such an interpretation of reality leads to a new definition of beauty and delight.

“With my paintings I want to convey the feeling of joy, the same feeling I experience when I see a rose bloom, lit by the early morning sun, when the rays gently touch the velvet petals, revealing all the nuances of color.”

Jeroen Paulussen’s works do not try to impose intellectual analysis on his viewers, but to amaze them with beauty. His works, like the old Dutch still lifes, are not about a faithful reproduction of beautiful objects, but also about the perception of the surrounding world and the importance of our experiences.
