Sculptures

Christian Verginer is considered to be one of the most original expressionists in contemporary sculpture carvings. He started his training at the sculpture department of the Art Academy of Ortisei and then continued at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara.

The subject chosen by the sculptor is the human figure, or rather, the human figure in his relationships with other life forms: with animals, nature, trees, or various other objects of the world. Man is as immobile as an apple or a tree, but always dominates the foreground.

The results of these combinations are wondrous, and new commitments unfold. The material used is linden tree wood, which remains smooth or covered in details by brilliant and unexpectedly applied acrylic paint.
The titles of the works are funny and ironic.

Verginer remains loyal to the Dolomite tradition with his skill and carving precision… while introducing modern, new, and personal topics.

“The results of the combinations are wondrous, and new commitments unfold.”
