Guy Van Aken, born in Mechelen (B), and Reon Nettenbreijers, born in Ammerzoden (NL), got to know each other 10 years ago in Antwerp. Together they have a lot in common. Both collectors of art, each in their own way. When the men started merging their collections, the idea arose to make objects themselves. This resulted in their first series of (self-designed) Buddhas full of color and shimmer. This entire process took quite some time. It took almost three years from the idea to the first actual object. But the result is there.
There are also smaller works with Swarovski crystals. These are based on the American Munny figure with a serious nod to the Japanese manga characters. Guy also creates paintings inspired by iconic symbols of Robert Indiana and well-known cartoon and cartoon characters. The men are going full steam ahead. This is how G&R became the brand name.
