He apprenticed as a practitioner of stained glass manufacture, where he learned to think in colour. He graduated cum laude from HBK Saar art school, after which he moved to the Netherlands and developed a new technique: “oil plastic”.
Since 2006 he predominantly works with oil plastic, which is created by dyeing industrial plastic with classic oil paint. It is surface and paints in one, and it allows Gross to make three-dimensional pieces.
