Sculptures

Marek Zyga was trained as a ceramist in the Polish city of Boleslawiec and has many years of experience working in all kinds of ceramics. The sculptures that Marek creates are made from chamotte clay. Zyga has an incredible fascination for the raw structure of this material and is attracted by the great possibilities this clay offers him. By exerting pressure on it, making casts, sculpting, the artist plays with the great diversity of this product. By using different techniques, he gets a large structural difference in the clay.

Marek Zyga decorates his sculptures with angobami, pigments and glaze. The sculptures refer to the classic sculptural forms, sometimes with a touch of surrealism. The letters, numbers and explanations that Zyga places on his images are messages that Marek Zyga gives to his images, which are often life-size.

“All actions are of equal importance throughout the process.”
