Sculptures
Marek Zyga was trained as a ceramist in the Polish city of Boleslawiec and has many years of experience working in all kinds of ceramics. The sculptures that Marek creates are made from chamotte clay. Zyga has an incredible fascination for the raw structure of this material and is attracted by the great possibilities this clay offers him. By exerting pressure on it, making casts, modeling, the artist plays with the great diversity of this product. By using different techniques, he gets a big structural difference in the clay.
As a sculptor, Marek Zyga is interested in man, especially in his body and gestures. Zyga is fascinated by people, their behavior and reactions. In gestures he looks for sentences, in sentences words and in words he looks for letters that he incorporates in his works. Eyes, hands – everything speaks in its own way. His sculptures are somehow edited depictions of reality, in a sense they are stories.
