New artist at the gallery: Kitty Tijbosch

We have welcomed another new artist to Van Loon Galleries: Kitty Tijbosch (The Netherlands, 1969). Kitty Tijbosch obtained her diploma in 1994 at the Graphic School in Eindhoven. After several painting and mixed media courses, she decided to start sculpting in stone. The sleek design and the strong interplay of lines show her background as a graphic designer. In her current work she completely lets go of the figuration and focuses on the symbolism and emotional values of the form. She expresses herself best in this form language; movement, flow, expressiveness, desire and growth come together here. They represent the feeling of freedom and adventure.

Themes

The first theme that Tijbosch plunged into was (sailing) boats. This is because she grew up with this as a child. It turned out to be a good source of inspiration and a way to hold onto the good memories. After that, the theme of birds arose, which proved to be enough space for discovering and developing its design language. This resulted in the current theme ‘Sky Reachers’. All figuration is completely let go and it focuses on the symbolism and emotional values of the norm.
